RF Systems

The RF Systems research theme covers a range of topics addressing RF sensing technology across the spectrum from HF to THz. It includes techniques as diverse as critical enabling device technologies and large scale system studies.

The work in this theme area is particularly closely linked to research in the Transduction Devices and Materials theme and the Transducer Embedded Processing theme. The allocation of certain research topics to a particular theme is a finely balanced choice, but the close working relationship between themes inherent in the IPT structure avoids any difficulties that this may otherwise have caused.

In constructing the research programme, the Consortium has sought to produce a programme balanced between highly innovative research and more incremental developments which nevertheless offer high potential. The aim has also been to undertake a broad range of research, in order to maximise benefits to a wide range of sensing applications. The first phase of the DTC research programme has been planned in detail, and involves projects spanning timescales of between one and three years. The work has been grouped into a number of sub-themes which are summarised below, together with the planned contributors to the research programme.
